Filling the Recipe Form

Creating and publishing your recipes on Chefadora is very simple. There are 2 ways to publish a recipe:

  1. By Filling Out Our Simple Recipe Form

    The recipe form guides you through the process of creating the best possible recipe. You can manually fill out all the necessary details such as the title, description, ingredients, steps, and more. 

  1. By Using Our AI Powered Recipe Genie

    Our AI-powered Recipe Genie instantly formats and uploads your recipes. Just copy, paste, and experience the magic.

How to Start a New Recipe?

  1. Click on the plus icon in the navigation bar or head to your profile and click on the ‘Create New Recipe’ button to get started.

  2. There are 2 ways to start writing a new recipe:

    • Click on the ‘New Recipe Form’ button to open a new recipe form.

    • If you choose to upload your recipe with Recipe Genie, please click on ‘ Recipe Genie AI’. For detailed instructions on using Recipe Genie, please refer to our Recipe Genie AI guide.

How to Fill Out the Recipe Form?

Recipe Title

Start by entering the name of your recipe. Chefadora encourages using traditional names of recipes to maintain authenticity and cultural diversity on the platform.


Description

Write more about the recipe here. Include its origins and history, what makes your recipe special, any nutritional benefits, and how to serve it. A well-written description can improve your recipe’s SEO. Refer to SEO for Your Recipes for more details.


Hero Image

Upload a high-quality and original photo of your dish. Your audience will eat with their eyes first, so make sure your dish is presented in the best possible way. Refer to our Uploading Photos and Videos guide for more details.


Please note: AI-generated and plagiarised images are not allowed. Please refer to our Guidelines for the Use of AI Generated Images.


Prep Time

Enter the time it takes to prepare for this recipe.


Cook Time

Enter the time it takes to cook the recipe.


Video Link

If you have a video of the recipe on YouTube, TikTok, or Instagram, you can add the link here. Currently, only Instagram Reels, YouTube videos, YouTube shorts, and TikTok videos are supported.

Servings

Specify how many people the recipe serves.


Ingredients

List the ingredients required for the recipe. You can also add subheadings and sections to your ingredient list to improve readability of your recipe.

  1. Go to the “Ingredients” section in the recipe form.

  2. Add Subheadings: You can add subheadings to your ingredient list if you want to create different sections for easy readability. This helps to organise ingredients into categories, such as “For the Sauce” or “Dry Ingredients”. 

    • To add a subheading before your first ingredient, type in the desired text in the subheading field. 

    • To add more subheadings after a few more lines, click on the ‘+ Add Sub Heading’ button.

  3. Add Ingredients One by One: Type in each ingredient along with the quantity required and press “Enter” after each ingredient. For example:

    • 1 cup sugar

    • ½ cup water

    • 1 large onion

    • 100g flour

      The recipe form automatically highlights the ingredient unit if used correctly, making it bold if it is an accepted unit. 

  1. Add Multiple Ingredients at Once: To add multiple ingredients at once, paste them into the field and press “Enter”. Each ingredient will be added to a separate line automatically.

  2. Review for Clarity: Ensure each ingredient appears on a separate line for clarity. This makes it easier for users to read and follow your recipe.


Method

  1. Go to the “Method” section in the recipe form.

  2. Add Subheadings: You can add subheadings to your method list if you want to create different sections for easy readability. This helps to organise steps into categories, such as “Preparation” or “Cooking”.

    • To add a subheading before your first method step, type the desired text in the subheading field.

    • To add more subheadings after a few steps, click on the ‘+ Add Sub-Heading’ button and enter the subheading text.

  3. Add Steps One by One: Type in each step of the recipe and press “Enter” after each step. Keep the instructions clear and concise. For example:

    • Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).

    • Mix the flour and sugar in a bowl.

    • Add the eggs and whisk until smooth.

    • Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.

  4. Add Multiple Steps at Once: To add multiple steps at once, paste them into the field and press “Enter”. Each step will be added to a separate line automatically.

  5. Include Step-by-Step Photos: If possible, include photos for each step to help your audience follow along better.

    Chefadora uses an internal recipe ranking system. We highly encourage our authors to add step-by-step photos as it will help rank the recipe better on Chefadora.   6. Review for Clarity: Ensure each step appears on a separate line for clarity. Use shorter sentences and divide the recipe into sections for easy reading and understanding.


Tips and Tricks
Add any special tips and tricks for the recipe, including storage and serving instructions, ingredient substitutions, or cooking techniques. This section helps provide extra value to your audience and can enhance the success of their cooking experience.

Examples of Tips and Tricks:

  • Storage Instructions: “Store leftover soup in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.”

  • Serving Suggestions: “Serve the dish with a side of steamed vegetables or a fresh green salad.”

  • Ingredient Substitutions: “If you don’t have buttermilk, you can use a mixture of milk and vinegar as a substitute.”

  • Cooking Techniques: “For a crispy crust, preheat your baking sheet before placing the dough on it.”

Cuisine, Meal Type, and Diet Type

Select the appropriate options from the dropdown menus. Choosing the right tags helps us categorise the recipes better, making it easier for your audience to find them.

  • Cuisine: Select the cuisine type that best describes your recipe (e.g., Italian, Mexican, Chinese).

  • Meal Type: Select all the meal types that apply to your recipe (e.g., Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, Snack).

  • Diet Type: Select all the diet types or restrictions that apply to your recipe (e.g., Vegan, Gluten-Free, Nut-Free).

Preview and Publish

  1. Click on the ‘Preview’ button to review your recipe.

  2. If you wish to go back and edit the recipe, click on thepencil icon or on the ‘edit recipe’ button.

  3. If everything looks good, click ‘Publish’ to make your recipe live.
